Track 21 (This ish is hard)

As I sit at tha "Stop and shop" for lunch ( It's a burrito. this is for you Taco Bell dog) I had a random thought about all of those who either write, sing, dance, perform etc. It takes a lot of guts, courage and downright insanity to want to share your talent wit' a world that's critical as shit.

I sometimes wonder what makes one decide, to get up one day and say "I want everybody in tha world to know I do this" Some may do it because Momma said they're tha best thing since sliced bread. Some may do it for tha monetary gain. Then some actually may do it for.....dare I say it.... for tha LOVE.

You have to rake yourself up into a nice, neat pile to get up in front of strangers and present yourself in a way that 1. People get a gist of where you're comin' from. 2. ENTERTAINING. Tha entertainin' part is always a bitch. Everybody has different tastes in what's entertainin' to them, so it's always hard to win some people over, as well keep others entertained.

That's where tha criticism sets in. Everybody at one point always feels like they can do better than some performers. Here's tha rub... If it's that easy to do it...how come you did'nt jump yo azz onto a stage or start typin' better shit hmmm? Before anyone renders any type of criticism, keep this in mind. No one got up that mornin' and said " I'm not gonna do my best" I would like to think that no matter what you do, you put your best foot forward.

To those that are only in this for tha money...good luck wit that dream. If you think people are tight wit money when it comes to personal finances, It's gonna be a super bitch to get them to part wit tha 15 dollars for your CD, or tha 30 dollar tickets for your tour. That's why tha people who do it for tha love, will always prosper. It's not tha fame or tha money It's tha sheer enjoyment of doin' what you do.

No matter what what you do to entertain others...Do it for tha love first. As for those that sit and pick apart what performers do, here's a thought for you. Can you, in all honesty to yourself put together a skill whether it's singin' dancin' writin' ( Tee Hee) Dj ing etc...and and have tha thick skin to let tha world see it, flaws and all. Hmm...

Ya shoulda f**kin been there.

Ooooweee...There are very few music genres that evoke such an emotion as House music. As i'm typin' this, I'll still gettin' over tha religious experince that was tha "I love house music Fridays" at Rev's (Revelations...see..religious) in Country Club Hills, Illinois.

Let me start off by sayin' that tha doors opened at 9, I got there at 11 (tryin' for that fashionably late entrance) and tha place was f**kin' packed already!!. Goin' in, it was nothin' but pure love of music and good times. Remember tha basement parties on tha block? Remember Mendel high school in Chicago in tha 80's ?Remember AKA's?(Let me stop before I pull somethin')

Tha music of tha nite was an eclectic, aggressive mix of rhythms that kept people on their feet. (jus' readin that, has yo azz wishin you were there.) Tha Dj's that nite are no strangers in movin a f**kin crowd (Mad love to Sundance Chi-town's tightest female Dj and Maurice Joshua and Lidell "NuNu"Townsell)

As for tha atmosphere, it was proper (They still say that S**t?!?) there was'nt a hint of bourgeoisie in tha room. Everybody was allowed to be themselves (Hell we all grew up together.) I saw friends from 20 to 30 years ago, still enjoyin' a style of music that Chi-town originated and EVERYBODY tried duplicating.

Now, there was some comedy, fo sho . OoooWeee I truly believe house music is tha only music that women can let their "INNER NASTY AZZ" out and its ok. One particular young (Heh) lady danced sooo low, I think I saw her C-section! (Yeah, read it again) And tha fellas....Word to tha wise...after a few Coronas, jus sit yo azz down! Also fellas not so many tight T-shirts next time. One guy's shirt was so tight, this mofo had a third nipple.(Stop me if I lie)

All in all tha nite was great. It was great to celebrate a movement of music that we can call our own. Hell, New York can have Hip Hop. Philly and Detroit can have Soul and R&B. But Chicago....Jus' gimme that HOUSE...MUSIC ALL NITE LONG.

Now, This party happens EVERY Friday at Revelations 18221 Pulaski in Country Club (CC Hills) Illinois. DON'T F**KIN MISS ANOTHER MOMENT! Long live tha movement...Lovg live tha fans. You make House a home.
